Make healthy food choices. Remember the ‘freshman fifteen’? You have to watch what you eat. Stay away from fast food as much as you can. Though such items are quick and inexpensive, but they do not offer the nutrients you really need.

You should always take time out everyday to study. Invest time in your college years, and you will reap excellent benefits. Think of college as a full-time job and attend to your social life after your obligations have been met. By getting an education, you can ensure a successful life.

Learn your schedule and the locations of your classes before school starts. This will help you to get to your classes on time. You can also find libraries or cafes on your route to study or eat lunch at if you have time.

In order to study successfully, the environment can have a big impact. The dorms generally aren’t great places to study. Seek out an area that has minimal distractions. Generally, libraries can provide this. If nothing else, purchase some headphones that will cut down on the amount of noise that you hear.

Explore your options and pursue activities that interest and engage you during your off-time. Make sleep a priority. Do not let your social life keep you from getting the sleep you need, and avoid spending entire nights on your homework. If you do not get enough sleep, you will have a hard time concentrating and will not get the most from your classes.

To avoid the dreaded “freshman 15,” maintain a healthy diet and avoid simple carbs. Avoid eating unhealthy foods. Instead, opt for fresh fruits and crisp vegetables as great snack alternatives. Protein is important, but make sure to consume it in moderation.

Schedule study breaks. It is good to study, but you also have to take breaks. For each hour you devote to your studies, you should take a 15 minute break to refresh your brain. Establish a schedule and plan on studying certain sections of your class.

Understand plagiarism and avoid it. You will be presented with many term papers while in college. Therefore, you should make sure you are aware of how to utilize citation in your paper so that you can prevent plagiarism, even if it’s not intentional. Professors check for originality. Make sure your professor has no reason to doubt your work.

Not that you’ve a better idea of what college entails, you should start planning accordingly. Learn all you can so you go into college with a full mind and open heart.
